TISSUE CULTURE Technologies International
Tissue Culture Technologies International (TCTI) is the first commercial tissue culture laboratory of the country. TCTI has production facilities at Islamabad and Karachi and primary and secondary hardening facilities at Karachi, Kotri and Thatta. At TCTI we have been producing virus free Grand Nain banana plants and these are now being cultivated under the organizational umbrella of PROFARMER INTERNATIONAL on 300 acres of virgin lands at Thatta with the aim to obtain an organic produce. Stagnation signifies death so our aim is to sustain a steady expansion of our farming operations to new cultivable lands across the country.
What Is TISSUE CULTURE?
Plant tissue culture is widely used to produce clones of a plant by a method known as micro-propagation. This process of cloning and micro-propagation involves tissue of selected elite plants and daughter suckers. The process consists of five important steps: Initiation, Multiplication, Shooting & Rooting, Primary Hardening in green houses and Secondary Hardening in shade houses.
What Are The Advantages Of Plant TISSUE CULTURE?
- The production of exact copies of plants that produce particularly good flowers, fruits, or have other desirable traits.
- To quickly produce mature plants.
- Production of plants in absence of seeds.
- Production of plants in sterile containers that allows them to be moved with greatly reduced chances of transmitting diseases, pests and pathogen.
- production of diseases free plants.
